Psychological Counselling

COUNSELLING CORNER

Guidance and Counselling play a vital role in a college-going student’s life. In today’s fast-paced world, students often have to cope with several personal and psychological problems that range from adjustment to a new environment, to academic and learning difficulties, to career issues and even to mental illness that need clinical assistance. In higher education, personal and psychological counselling contribute to student development, adjustment and learning, and helps preventing self-defeating behaviour among students that may even be dangerous. It is through guidance and counselling that a student attains the confidence to thrive and sustain within the college community.

A comprehensive view of counseling in higher education in India today aims to be all-encompassing, taking into account both academic and psychological dimensions of a student’s life. Hooghly Mohsin College has also adopted such a holistic view of counselling in order to reach and assist a vast majority of its students.

The Counselling Corner is one such attempt to contribute to an environment of guidance, encouragement and support for students of the College.
