A brief history of the Department
POST-GRADUATE DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE BEGAN ITS JOURNEY WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF UNDERGRADUATE HONOURS AND GENERAL COURSES IN1960. THE POST-GRADUATE COURSE WAS INTRODUCED IN 1965 MUCH EARLIER THAN IT WAS INTRODUCED IN THE BURDWAN UNIVERSITY.
GREAT AND FAMOUS TEACHERS LIKE SOVANLAL DUTTAGUPTA, RADHARAMAN CHAKRABORTY, RAGHUBIR CHAKRABORTY, GOURIPADA BHATTACHARYA, PRASANTA KUMAR GHOSH AND KRITYAPRIYA GHOSH TAUGHT HERE.
THE DEPARTMENT PRODUCED BRILLIANT STUDENTS WHO HAD SUCCEEDED IN LATER YEARS AS SCHOOL AND COLLEGE TEACHERS, WBCS AND OTHER OFFICERS AND EVEN LAWYERS.
THE DEPARTMENT CATERS TO HUGE NOS OF STUDENTS EVERY YEAR. STUDENTS ARE VERY DISCIPLINED AND ATTENTIVE. STILL THE RESULT IN BOTH UG AND PG LEVELS IS MUCH APPRECIABLE.
NOW WE HAVE FIVE SENIOR AND VERY EXPERIENCED TEACHERS WHO TEACH AT BOTH HONOURS AND POST-GRADUATE LEVELS. THE DEPARTMENT IS OBLIGED TO CATER QUALITY EDUCATION TO STUDENTS SO THAT THEY CAN SUCCEED IN LIFE AND ESTABLISH THEMSELVS IN THE SOCIETY AS GOOD HUMAN BEINGS.
