Mathematics Department
A brief history of the Department
The Department of Mathematics was started with the introduction of B.Sc. General course in 1860 which was subsequently upgraded to Honoursin the year 1864 under the University of Calcutta.The affiliation was shifted to the University of Burdwan in 1960.The department has passed through a progressive journey since its inception. We use to motivate our students about the scope of higher studies in Mathematics at different Universities and Institutes. Regarding innovative teaching skills we use LCD projector in our classes. The department has a well-equipped Computer Laboratory. The department has a seminar library with more than one thousand books.
Consistently good academic results with a large number of 1stclasses under The University of Burdwan is our achievement. Frequently many years our students stood first class first in B.Sc. Mathematics Honours in The University of Burdwan.
